Maine Medical Center, Central Maine Medical Center, and Eastern Maine Medical Center have joined forces with smaller hospitals in their geographic areas to create affiliations and share resources.

Focused care centers for trauma, cardiac services, oncology care and obstetrical services  allow for more acute care while maintaining general hospitals services around the state.

Many hospitals sponsor workshops and educational clinics that can help you maintain control over your own health care.

Are there steps you can take to stay out of the hospital?

• wear your seatbelt
• follow your medication orders
• get exercise, drink water, eat well
• make your home a clutter-free zone, with nothing to trip or fall over, including scatter rugs
• always use railings on stairs
• ask your doctor if there are immediate measures you can take while waiting for help, in case of emergency
