Southern Maine Agency on Aging:  Your 1st Stop for Answers

For more than 35 years, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging (SMAA) has been the area’s leading resource for information, programs and services to improve the well-being of older adults living in Cumberland and York counties.

We’re the proud hosts of the Maine Senior Games, where athletes 50 and over compete in a wide range of events, from basketball to cycing, table tennis to swimming. Call to learn more about this summer’s games and how you can participate.

We also publish a month newspaper called the Senior News. If you’d like to receive it at home, it’s easy to sign up for the Senior News.

Founded in 1972, under the authority of the Federal Older Americans Act, SMAA is a non-profit organization dedicated to planning and implementing social services for adults age 60 and older.

SMAAA Programs and Services programs and services are designed to foster independence, reduce the burden on family and caregivers and promote an active and healthy lifestyle. Our Truslow Adult Day Center is Saco offers engaging programming and a secure setting for guests with memory impairment. SMAA offers numerous support programs for family members and caregivers. Find out more about our Agewell programs here.

Throughout the year, 82 full-time staff and 1,200 volunteers help connect many thousands of seniors and their families with the appropriate programs and services they need to help them live healthy, active and independent lives.

If you are an older adult, or you have a family member who is an older adult  living in York or Cumberland county, we would love to hear from you. Give us a call today.
