Hospice Homes are residential settings designed to meet the requirements of seniors in Maine who need increased support with end of life care. Hospice Homes can provide respite to caregivers who can no longer provide end of life care at home or when a nursing home or assisted living is no longer an appropriate environment for someone who is facing a life limiting illness.
Patients with pain or medical conditions that cannot be managed at home can reside at a hospice home, either temporarily or until end of life.
Hospice care can actually be provided in many different settings: in a private home, nursing home, hospital, or at a hospice home.
